Frequently Asked Questions!
|
|
* How much time will I need to spend on this? You may spend as much time as you feel you have. There is no time commitment to be a Site Coordinator. On average, 1 to 2 hours a week would suffice.
* Is my commitment permanent? No. You’re a volunteer. You commit as long as you wish.
* Are you affiliated with a larger organization? No. Although there are other Citizen Advocacy programs in Wisconsin and around the nation, each one is independent and there is no national organization.
* I don't think I know enough people to help you? Sit down and make a list of people you know in your community. You might be surprised as to how many people you really do know.
* What is a developmental disability? click here or paste this in as your URL: http://www.cawashingtoncounty.org/definition.html
* Do I look for partners or advocates--or both? We would be happy to receive any referrals you can find.
* Are you like Big Brothers and Big Sisters? Citizen Advocacy is all about freely given relationships that are unpaid and unmanaged.
* How is Citizen Advocacy funded? We are funded through private foundations and individuals in the community. We also receive some funding through United Way.
* What makes a good advocate? click here or paste this in as your URL: http://www.cawashingtoncounty.org/whatiscitizenadvocacy.html
* Are there other SST Sites in Washington County? Yes. We have sites located currently in Germantown, West Bend and Kewaskum.
