Advocates Needed!

A FEW GOOD ADVOCATES NEEDED!


If you're interested in becoming an advocate, please consider the following opportunities:


Partner: Brent (27) – Germantown
Advocate: A young person who is about 30 to befriend and advocate for Brent who has a cerebral palsy. This advocate needs to be active in the community, be connected with other young people, have a good sense of humor and enjoy getting out to see events, concerts, and other community happenings. This young person must be willing to be flexible, patient and have a big heart. Must have auto insurance and a good driving record. Access to email, facebook & text messaging is a plus! This is a commitment to a long-term friendship.

Partner: Gina (46) – Germantown
Advocate: We are looking for a woman that enjoys being out doing and learning new things. Trips to the Circus, Domes, museums, fairs, out to eat and shopping are among many activities that Gina would like to be able to do with a new friend. Currently her day is spent working then at home watching old TV shows and searching the internet to learn new things. This advocate would be willing to build a friendship and help Gina become more involved the community and provide her with new opportunities to challenge herself and to grow.

Partner: Richard (41) – West Bend
Advocate: A man that is kind, caring and patient. Advocate must be extremely trustworthy and willing to build a relationship to build up trust. Richard likes to be on the go, he enjoys walking, biking, participating in and watching sports. He enjoys helping people out, doing chores and pulling weeds. Richard enjoys rummaging, especially for books and music, looking especially for 80’s rock and newer alternative rock. He would love to go to some of the downtown festivals with someone. An advocate would need to be able to do something with Richard at least once a week.

Partner: Justin (25) – West Bend
Advocate: A man that is active in the community and willing to include Justin in some of those activities. Justin would love to volunteer in the community but needs an advocate to be with him. He would also enjoy bowling, hiking, video games and puzzles. Partner does not have the means to go far so would love the opportunity to do any sort of activity out of his apartment. Advocate will need to be patient and will need to be able to set boundaries.

Partner: Donald (66) – West Bend
Advocate: Someone that is patient and caring. Donald would like someone to go “bumming” with. He enjoys shopping, going out to eat, really he is up for anything that will get him out of the house. When at home he spends most of his time watching game shows. He would love the opportunity to build a relationship with someone and be able to get out from in front of the tv a bit more often.

Partner: Ryan (15) – Sussex
Advocate: A man that would be willing to enable this young man with autism in Sussex gain some independence from his parents. Ryan enjoys bike rides, model cars, and going out for ice cream. He loves to play the guitar and is able to play a song after hearing it. He also enjoys recording music on his computer and then editing it. His favorite bands are the old school rock bands. Advocate would be willing to set up time to spend with Ryan a couple of times a month to go out or stay in and jam.

Partner: Owen (14) – Kewaskum
Advocate: Advocate would be a man that is willing to be a good male role model as well as do all the fun stuff that a dad or big brother would do. An advocate would enjoy a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities, possibly trips to the zoo, museums, farm or fairs. Advocate must be patient and be willing to give this teen the time he needs to answer questions or speak what is on his mind. An advocate would help him become an involved in community activities.

Partner: Tim (45) – Farmington
Advocate: Advocate would be a man or a woman that loves to have fun!! Tim is looking for someone that will include him in all the fun things in life. He loves fairs, fishing, camping, shopping and going out to eat. Advocate would be willing to get together with Tim at least once a month to do fun things in the community. Must be patient and have a good sense of humor.

Partner: Steve (31) – West Bend
Advocate: Advocate would be a woman or man that would be willing to help this man become more involved in the community as an individual. Steve would love the opportunity to have activities during the week. Someone who enjoys swimming and has a membership to the YMCA would be a great fit. Advocate must be willing to get together with Steve a couple of times a month.

Partner: Shantelle (20) – West Bend
Advocate: Advocate would be a young woman that enjoys life and likes to have a good time. Shantelle is looking for someone that would go shopping with her or go out to the movies. She enjoys crafts and art and would love to share that hobby with someone. An advocate could encourage Shantelle to participate in recreational activities such as taking walks or hikes. Some of the activities that go on downtown West Bend might be ideal activities for this partnership.

Partner: John (38) – West Bend
Advocate: Advocate would be a man that loves to laugh. John would like to have someone that can take the initiative to get together. He enjoys walks, bike rides, fishing and music (mostly country and Christian). John is interested in treasure hunting; he has a metal detector and would love to try geocaching. He is very sensitive and needs someone that will help him make and reach his goals as he works to balance his new found independence.
